Baseball Is A Talking Sport...

...and people in New England and the Rocky Mountains are still talking about it.

The Boston Red Sox completed their almost expected comeback Sunday night, creaming the Cleveland Indians, 11-2, in game 7 of the American League Championship Series. CLE had a 3 games to 1 lead before the Red Sox came back to win the series. Executives at Fox are very happy, as the Red Sox are one of the most popular teams in baseball. People in Cleveland continue to suffer, as bad things continue to happen to Cleveland teams. The city of Cleveland has not celebrated a championship since before I was born.

On the National League side sits the Colorado Rockies, winners of an amazing 21 of their last 22 games. The Rockies won a play-in game against San Diego to earn the wild card berth. They then swept the Phillies and Diamondbacks to win the National League pennant.

The World Series begins Wednesday night in Boston. I expect the Rockies to go cold after their 8 day layoff. I also won't be surprised to see a game snowed out in this series. Denver had their first snowstorm of the year on Sunday.

In spite of all that: Go Rox!

My friend who was in Denver yesterday said most of the snow melted before it even hit the ground. No matter - I really have no interest in this series ... maybe that will change, but I doubt it.

I care a little about this series, but I fear the Boston sweep. Yuck.

Boston is really on fire right now. I would not be surprised if they smoke the Rockies. About the only one I still find interesting is Shilling ... and only because he's older than me ... and the whole bloody sock thing from the past. ;)

Red Sox Nation is a cult.

I saw a T-shirt for sale in a grocery store in CT last week with the Sox' 6 world championships on it. 6 titles are nice, but it's kinda hard to brag on that when the Yankees have 26 of them. They have this idea that they are the Yankees' equal. They need 20 more world championships to equal the hated Yankees.

Yankees aren't here now, so right now they are better than the Yankees ... especially with the stupid Yankees getting rid of one of the best managers ever.

The Red Sox do have scoreboard this year. However, their tradition pales in comparison to the evil Yankees.

The modern Yankees are learning the hard way that you can't buy championships any more.
