UUOTD-Playoff Edition, Part 2

It's a good thing the Bears most likely won't be wearing these things on Sunday as they take on the Saints for a trip to Super Bowl XLI.

Rex Grossman is shown in the Bears' alternate uniform. Orange is one of their colors, but it is not their primary color. Thank goodness. These things look just plain weird. They are not fitting of a team known as the Monsters of the Midway. They just look hideous.

George Halas is rolling in his grave.

That is a great uniform and one any Bears fan should be proud of.

Your hatred of orange just continues. It's really sad. Let's get some really ugly unis out here, will ya?

Here's some non-orange exmamples for you, since you're having such a hard time finding some:

Not all orange is ugly. But, this one is. Orange is not their primary color.

The Denver Broncos' old unis looked goofy after they wore blue for a few years. And, I always hated the stripes they put on that thing.

That Houston Astros uni from the 70's is a classic! It's ugly as sin, but it's still a classic. They break them out as throwbacks every once in a while.

Those Saints unis were gross. They look like what they wore in the 60's and 70's before they moved indoors.

Those Montreal Alouettes uniforms are bad. What do you expect? They're French. Canadian, but French.

I think those Saints' pants are the color of my refrigerator! lol

And I can't really blame the CFL ... they don't know any better.

Those Dis-Astros' unis always make me think of the Pirates hats of the late 70s-early 80s caps (seen here on Jim Bibby). I don't know why I associate those two things together, but I do. Oh, and we had to wear those hideous caps one year on our softball team. That was the in thing and we looked awful. But, the Dis-Astros' unis are the worst - thank God we didn't have to wear those!

As for the Astros' orange rainbow uniform, our pastor wore jersey in the pulpit one Sunday last fall when we dedicated our new athletic fields. This is a baseball town.

The Pirates' uniform came from the National League Centennial of 1976, and an imitation of the style of the late 1800's. The Cardinals also wore a flat top hat with horizontal stripes in '76, but the Pirates kept it for five or six years. My high school had black and gold for school colors, and the baseball team had uniforms just like the Pirates, including the flat-top hats and the gold pinstripes on black pants. They even had the stars on the hats as rewards.

The 1979 World Series was quite colorful, as the Pirates and their mix-and-match uniforms played the Orioles and their orange, white, and gray jerseys. It was the height of the disco era. :-)
